Richard Dennler Obituary

A wonderful man was born on June 12, 1954 in Sioux City, Iowa. The second of three children born to Lois Adele Dennler and Earl George Dennler, our beloved Rick entered rest on February 4, 2021 at he and his wife’s home in Washington.

Rick was tremendously gentile, loving, kind and cared deeply for people. Some of his most cherished life-long friendships were forged in his formative years. Rick has always been a wonderful photographer and cartoonist with an admiration of the arts, but as a young man athletics were his passion. He loved having his dad as coach and played every sport from golf to basketball and football, rugby and pole vaulting. After graduating with a Bachelor’s in Business and Marketing, Rick followed his heart into the Air Force, where he attained skills needed to become a pilot. His career began behind the yoke with Pan Am, followed by American Airlines, Alaska Air and finally Boeing where he worked as an instructor pilot and eventually moved into training and development where his raison d’etre was the continual innovation of pilot training curriculum in relation to aviation safety. Rick was loved and respected deeply by all who had the honor of knowing him. He possessed a very unique charm, unmatched wit and constant compassion that defined his character as well as his very tender heart. He brought joy and laughter into each day, honored the people around him and never took for granted the beauty of his surroundings.

Rick’s love of family was strong and true, and he was blessed with children as well as a very fulfilling marriage. He was a deeply loyal and loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and son. Rick was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, his mother and father in law and sister in law. He is survived by his treasured children Timothy, Richard, Lucie, Elliott, Jonathon (Darcy) and Matthew, grandchildren Nathon, Kaylee and Kyler, sisters Debbie and Kathy, nieces Alexa and Brooke, nephew Drew, and the love of his life, his dear wife Erynn.

We deeply mourn Rick’s absence from our lives, yet continue to be graced by his spirit as we carry within us the memory of a deeply loving and kind soul. To have been given a glimpse into the pure beauty of Rick’s heart is a rare gift; one to be honored in the way we care for one another, and in our ability to cherish the moments that bring us together, as if they could be our very last…

Rest in peace and the beauty of Heaven, our beloved “Ticker”
