Richard was born in Houston Texas Mar 19, 1942 to Richard Lee and Ruth Louise Fleming.
Most of his childhood was spent in Oklahoma where he attended Will Rogers High School and University of Tulsa.
He met and married Freida Mae Hall August 29, 1962. He and Freida were married for forty-two years and she passed away in 2002.
Richard spent his career at Metal Goods retiring as Regional vice president of sales in 2000. After retiring he went back to work at Paramount Centre Auto.
Richard was an avid golfer, bike rider, kayak-er and enjoyed fishing in the sound.
He especially loved being a grandfather to eight grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Richard made things better in everything he did whether working in his career, his family, or yard, or in the public square. He loved children and ran the children's ministry in his local church for years and actually worked with babies and tots well into his seventies. Children were simply attracted to Richard.
He will be remembered for his kindness, gentleness, the most beautiful smile in the world, his fun and jokes, and a man of integrity who loved well. The world is a better place because of Richard. He will be missed by all of us who loved him. He loved God, his country and his family.
He leaves behind his wife, Gail, four brothers, David,(Pat), Gary, (Ronda), John, (Jim), and Don, (Suzan), three children; Rick, (Laura), Carl, Rebecca, (Russ) 2 Stepchildren; Corey (Cary), Scott, (Cathie); eight grandchildren; Stephanie, (Randy) Natalie, Richard, Zachary, Lindsay, Cameron, Reese, and Finley; six step grandchildren, Cooper, Kendall, Matea, Evey, Nixon, and Cruz and one great grandchild, Delaney.
