Rita M. Curzio
1951-2018
Rita Mae Curzio passed away on April 9, 2018, at age 66. Rita was born July 30, 1951, to Harold E. Stage and Velma A. (Neaterour) Stage in Bremerton, WA. She attended Navy Yard City Elementary School and graduated from West (Bremerton) High School in 1969. In addition to the Bremerton area, she also lived in Rhode Island, Hawaii and Oregon. Rita began working as a collection agent in Salem, Oregon. After returning to Bremerton to be close to her son, grandson and parents, she continued her career in collections until her retirement in 2017.
Rita liked crafting and scouring thrift shops for bargains and hidden treasures. She delighted in creating flower arrangements and wreaths, which she then sold or gave as gifts. She also enjoyed trips to area casinos and the ocean. Rita adored dogs, a love she partially fulfilled through a second occupation as a dog sitter.
Rita is survived by her son, Bradly S. Turner, daughter-in-law, Doni, grandson, Jack, and step-granddaughter, Cassie; sisters, Sharlen (Alan) Bennett, Denise (Tom) Kent; two nephews; former husbands, Joe Turner and Jim Curzio; and an extended family of friends.
The family wishes to thank the medical professionals, staff and caregivers at both St. Anthony Hospital and Cottesmore of Life Care in Gig Harbor. Services will be private; however, in memory of Rita’s abiding love of animals, donations are suggested to the animal rescue organization or charity of your choice.
