Sandra "Sandy" Leone Hughes

Sandra “Sandy” Leone Hughes,75, of Gig Harbor, Washington passed away unexpectedly on 17 January 2023. 

Sandy grew up on the Alta Vista Ranch near Fruitland, WA, in Steven County. Sandy was an only child with many cousins, aunt, and uncles She loved caring for the farm animals and helping around the farm. She was active in basketball, Grange and 4-H activities through school. After graduating from Columbia High School in Hunters, WA, she moved to Spokane to attend college and business school. She later met Greggory “Gregg” Peter Hughes (deceased). They married on 15 February 1969. Sandy and Gregg raised their family in Colville, WA and later moved to Port Orchard. In 2021, Sandy moved into the home of her son Kirt and daughter-in-law Dyanna. 

Sandy worked for many years as a bank teller and a variety of other jobs. She enjoyed gardening, baking. cooking, sewing, animals and connecting with neighbors. Above all she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and going to their sporting events.  Sandy will be dearly missed and always remembered.

Sandy was predeceased by her parents George and Estrid Pugh, her husband Greggory Peter Hughes. She is survived by daughter Caroline Henry, son Kirt Hughes, and grandchildren Corbin Ranck, Greggory L. L. Hughes and Danae Hughes.  A celebration of her life will take place in early spring.
