Scott Wayne Shipley, loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend, passed away at age 44 on Saturday, February 8th, 2020, at St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington, of a brief illness.
Scott was born March 27, 1975, in Ventura, California, to Joyce Shipley and Jerel Shipley. He graduated from Buena High School in Ventura in 1993, then attended Moorpark College, studying Communications. In 2015 Scott received his California realtor license and worked in real estate in both California & Washington. He also worked for the United States Census in Washington State.
Scott had a real passion for music. He loved going to concerts of every genre and venue: rap to heavy metal to soft rock to classical, concert halls to domes to intimate theaters to headphones. He was a smart, sensitive, deep conversationalist who had a big heart and was extremely thoughtful of humans and animals alike. Some saw Scott’s awkward shyness, but for those who knew him well, his gifts were rich and many and we saw his devotion to us, which was as deep as ours was to him.
Scott also loved everything about his hometown of Ventura, especially the beach. He and his mother would often take drives along the Southern California coastline and we’re sure Scott’s Heaven was found in Malibu when he lifted his eyes to his Glory.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Jerel. He is survived by his mother, Joyce Shipley, and brother Brian (Charline) Shipley of Gig Harbor, his grandmother, Jean Shipley, and uncle, Rick Shipley, both of Ventura, aunt, Cheryl Look, and cousins Rusty & Alan Claytor of Des Moines, Iowa, and many dear friends, all who loved him so much.
