Setsuko Buckley left us on 11/26/2021, she was 93 years old, she passed away at home as she wanted. She will be missed immensely by all that knew and loved her.
Born 1/29/28 in Osaka, Japan, and raised on Awaji Island, she met and married George F Buckley April 22, 1958, and made the journey by boat to the USA. She settled in Tacoma, was a member of the Tacoma Buddhist church; she always volunteered in her daughters’ classes and chaperoned field trip. She raised her two daughters to be strong and independent like her. She loved being a grandmother and liked to spoil her grandkids, always getting them what they wanted or cooking them what they requested. She had her circle of friends she enjoyed visiting and traveling with.
She is survived by Georgiana Marzano (Frank) and Susana Russell (Matt), grandchildren, Nathan, Andy, Allyssa, Lane, and Peyton as well as great grandson Colton. Also surviving her are her sisters, Tsuneko Hosokawa and Kikuyo Tatsumi, nephew Hiroshi Hosokawa and niece Hiroko Tatsumi in Japan. She was predeceased by her husband George and brother Eiichi Hosokawa as well as both her parents.
There will be no funeral, she wanted a simple burial with family.
