William Neeley Amesbury, 86, passed away on June 20, 2020 at 2:20 pm in Gig Harbor, WA. He was the husband of Clara Amesbury for 61 years; father of Judy Amesbury, Mary Amesbury and Elizabeth Amesbury; grandfather of Amy Reynolds and Suzannah Beller.
William was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on May 4, 1934. He was the son of Herbert and Dorothy Amesbury and the little brother of Marilyn Allen. William served as a radio operator in Korea and was discharged honorably in 1963.
William and Clara began their married life in Bennington, Nebraska. William worked for IBM and Sorbus before moving to the Pacific Northwest. Later he owned his own business, Dot Matrix Printer Service. He loved woodworking, collecting and restoring classic cars and finding good deals. His family and friends called him “Bargain Bill.” In their retirement years Bill and Clara were active members of the Pacific Northwest Metropolitan Car Club. Bill was also a Lion.
A memorial service will be held later in the year. William will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.
