Ronald Douglass Obituary

Ronald Orville Douglass, 83, passed away in Tacoma, Washington on December 30, 2017. He was born in White Salmon, Washington on December 13, 1934 to Orville and Aileen Douglass. He is deeply loved and will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

 

Ronald was raised in Stevenson, WA by his grandparents Albert (Bert) & Emma Sweeney Douglass, who taught him to work hard, and play harder. He went into the Armed Forces as a Marine in 1954. His service ended in 1955 because of an accidental gunshot wound. Afterward, he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Local 701 and Local 302 for over 40 years.

 

Ronald was best known for his quirky sense of humor, his love of skiing, his athletic abilities, his love of life, and his deep love of his family and friends. His favorite place to be was Ketchum, Idaho, skiing with his many and varied friends.

 

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Orville Douglass, Momma Lyda Douglass,  Aileen Roemaine, and his sisters Jackie Kettler and Joy Levin. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Douglass of Cottage Grove, OR; son, Kevin Albin of Federal Way, WA, step-brother & step-sister Duane Douglass & Noreen Salmon of Vancouver, WA. Grandchildren Jayson Beebe of Springfield, OR, Chauncey Day of Bend, OR, Bjorn Day of Cottage Grove, OR and Kyle Albin of Federal Way, WA, great-grandchildren Carter Beebe and Peyton Beebe of Springfield, OR and Evie Luna Albin of Federal Way, WA.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 17, 2018 at 1:00 in Stevenson WA at Hegewald Center (formerly Rock Creek Center) where many Douglass-Sweeney Family Reunions have been held. A Potluck Reception will follow the service.

 

Cremation was at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor, WA. His remains to be interred with his father in Carson Cemetery at a later date.
