Gunvald (Slim) Rusdal

Passed away January 26th 2016 at the age of 78. Gunvald was born in Norway on April 29, 1937. He was the second of six children and the eldest son of Dordy and Georg Rusdal.

Gunvald’s adventurous spirit brought him to America in 1956. He made his way to Montana where he was a miner. This is where he found the love of his life, Mary, his wife of 39 years. They were married on May 16, 1964. They created their beautiful home in Gig Harbor with their children.

Gunvald took pride in being a hard worker. He did many things such as ranching, construction, mechanic, business owner and entrepreneur and was successful at all.

Family was his first priority always. He loved being outdoors and at his home surrounded by nature.

Gunvald loved fishing, hunting, traveling and being with his family. His genuine kindness touched everyone. He had a never ending smile and a strong and gentle spirit that was felt by everyone.

Gunvald is survived by his children Lila (Greg) Tschida, George (Jill) Rusdal, Jennifer (Tony) Staatz; his grandchildren Zachary, Alexis, Zane, Emily, Olivia, Grace, Katherine and Mary.

We will forever miss his wisdom and laughter.
