Janice Brown

Janice Brown, 65, of Gig Harbor, died Tuesday evening, June 16, 2015. She was born March 31, 1950 in Philadelphia, PA and married Mike Gallagher on March 11, 1970. She is survived by Mike and their son Sean.

Janice spent her career helping people, first as private practice social worker when she was owner and president of Star Systems Consultation & Training in Philadelphia and West Chester, PA.  In 2009, Janice and Mike moved to Gig Harbor to be closer to Sean, his wife Jill and their three children Autumn, Lilah and Sawyer in Portland. Janice continued her career in social work with WA Department of Social and Health Services. She retired in 2014.

Janice, in addition to her work as a social worker was an accomplished Face Painter and worked in clown at private parties and business functions.  While in Pennsylvania, Janice and Mike adopted three homeless shelters and provided free monthly birthday parties with cake and presents to the children in the shelters, face painting and balloon twisting for all the kids. After moving to Gig Harbor, Janice continued providing happiness and laughter as a member the Big Foot Clown Alley.

Being with her grandchildren was one of Janice’s biggest joys and source of satisfaction. She desperately wanted to complete a final move to Portland in order to be closer to Sean, Jill and the grandkids. She will be sorely missed.
