Dale Laurence Rogers
Dale Laurence Rogers passed away unexpectedly on October 20, 2016. He was born in Helena, Montana in 1934 and spent much of his young life in Arizona before moving to Washington. Dale joined the Army as a typist but spent some time as a drill instructor. While in the Army he was stationed at Fort Lewis Washington, where he met his wife Joanne, and where they later returned to raise their children David and Diana.
He graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. in Accounting and was a lifelong and enthusiastic fan of the Sun Devils. While in Arizona he lived in Tempe and in Show Low, where he had good friends.
He was a CPA at accounting firms in Arizona and Oregon and then for the State of Washington in the office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, from which he ultimately retired. Dale was a long time resident of Olympia and then Gig Harbor where he lived on Cromwell Beach.
He hunted all sorts of game in Arizona and Washington, from pheasant to wild turkey, deer, elk and bear. He most enjoyed boating, salmon fishing and crabbing all over Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. He loved the water whether on the beach, in a boat, or on cruises to Alaska.
Dale was preceded in death by his ex-wife Joanne (Morud, Rogers) Oljefski and his long time companion Dona Turner. He is survived by his son David J. Rogers, daughter Diana L. Holbrook and companion Margaret Turner.
Dale will be buried at Hales Passage Scandinavian Lutheran Cemetery (Cromwell Cemetery) on Sunday, October 30 at 1:00PM. We will have an informal gathering at the beach house afterwards for everyone who would like to come.
