Helmut Georg Andres

Helmut Georg Andres, 79, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016, in Gig Harbor, Washington.  Born September 2, 1936, in Worms, Germany, to Georg and Kunigunde Andres, Helmut emigrated to Buffalo, New York at the age of 17. He  served 22 years in the United States Air Force, followed by 16 years with Boeing.

Well-travelled and educated with a love for history and culture, Helmut was a passionate historian and relished good food, in particular home-cooked German meals and cakes. He pursued higher education throughout his adult life, obtaining his MA in Human Relations from Pacific Lutheran University in 1981. He took great pride in his career, caring for the people that he supervised and the quality of his work. He was a loyal husband and father, to his wife of 57 years, Edith Andres, and children, Susan Andres, Berkeley, California and Stephan Andres, Palo Alto, California who predeceased him. He was a proud grandfather and father-in-law to Stephanie Jersey and Todd Jersey, Berkeley, respectively.

Services and burial with full military honors will take place at 3 p.m., Friday, July 22, at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor, Washington.
